Everybody knows that Rémy Martin VSOP is one of the most well known brands of Cognac in the world. Composed of eaux-de-vie from the highest quality vineyards of the region (the Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne), it is a gorgeous balance of powerful and elegant aromas.
What I learned pretty recently was that, apart from creating a staple in most bars’ drink lists, the house of Rémy Martin supports talented artists from all over the world.

An example of such talent is the famed American visual artist Matt W. Moore. Known for his stylish art known as Vectorfunk, the graphic designer, streetball enthusiast, and Francophile has been chosen as Rémy Martin’s partner in telling the VSOP story through limited edition bottles*. The exciting partnership means to give a fresh perspective to a well-loved brand, and showcases Rémy Martin’s ability to bring something exciting and new. Taking inspiration from the Cognac movement, Moore’s art is an appealing way to show the brand’s “direction to expand its vision as its range of products grow finer with age.”
“Part of my drive as an artist is to reach as many eyes as possible. This collaboration shows the possibility of celebrating differences and harmonizing our histories.” – Matt W. Moore

Moore’s art narrates the new Rémy Martin story, blending the Cognac’s natural origins through natural elements like grapes and leaves. His work also honours the label’s tradition through “cherished” symbolisms, such as an avant-garde, geometric representation of Rémy Martin’s centaur.
“Matt has created a visual narrative that underscores movement and brings new energy to our brand. His work reaches out to a wide audience and tells our brand story from a novel point of view.” – Augustin Depardon, Global Executive Director, Rémy Martin
In Manila, the launch of the Matt Moore Limited Edition VSOP bottles was done through an event that recognises local “Art and Style Icons”, featuring individuals that have made an impact in their respective fields (fashion, design, business, culinary, music, art, literature, film, and photography).
Rémy Martin is also seeking to work with local visual artists to shine the spotlight on Filipino talent through a mural art installation. This is one of the ways that the brand seeks to further imbibe the energy of Moore’s work in the country.

Tech-savvy people are also invited to join in the visual feast through the Augmented Reality Tour (ARt), available in iOS. Globally, it’s the “first brand activation that leverages ARKit technology” through a visual medium by allowing users to “redesign the environment and create their own unique vision of the world by playing with a vast pallet of 3D graphical elements inspired by (Moore’s) new visual universe.”
With that in mind, I’m excited t see the city from a fresh, new perspective… Preferably with the app in one hand, and a glass of Rémy Martin VSOP in the other. Cheers!
