A long, slightly monopolized conversation with one of my favorite people, Robi Joseph, reminded me of why I fell in love with wine oh so many moons ago: Wine lets us travel to different places without ever leaving the table. Admittedly, working with wine for almost 20 years can sometimes burn me out… But every time a beautifully made bottle really expresses its proverbial sense of place, I get swept up in the romance and wanderlust all over again.

This is why I confess that I have a particular bias for this year’s Grand Wine Experience Theme: The World in a Glass. Don’t get me wrong, each year’s GWE is phenomenal – and I have to say, the people behind it never cease to make every single one better and bigger than the last. I’m just especially excited to experience over 1,000 wines, spirits, sake, and beers from over 12 countries (with yummy gourmet dishes by Marriott Hotel Manila esteemed chefs, including the legendary giant paelleras!) and travel the world from one ballroom, one glass at a time.
The press conference held in The Hub, Marriott Hotel Manila last October 15 gave us a sneak peek on what to expect. If the food and the wine for the afternoon were any indication, we are in for a massive treat.

See you on November 15, 2024, Friday, 5:00pm (to heaven knows what time… It tends to last until there’s wine left) in Marriott Grand Ballroom. Tickets are priced at P9,500 each – unbelievably worth it if one considers the top shelf wines and spirits available for sampling that evening. Click here to register, or go to their website at www.grandwineexperience.com.
