Baguio’s Best Kept Secret

written by Gail Sotelo March 15, 2017

It’s not a secret that I like good beer… And it’s no secret that one of my favorite beers is Baguio Craft Brewery.

That said, the people behind this legendary Baguio landmark has diversified by sharing their love of a good drink and opening a speakeasy…

…Somewhere in their premises. 😉

While I don’t wish to spoil the concept by divulging too much, here are a few things I can say:

  • It’s a nice, cozy place for an intimate conversation – Just see the photos below:
Yes, we blurred out the very secretive bartender's face ;)

The cocktail that I swore had a hint of tamarind and soda water in it, which the bartender refused to confirm (or deny, hmmmm...)

  • They’ve got excellent cocktails – I decided to be adventurous and told the bartender to “surprise me” with something that wasn’t included in the menu. I was served with a delicious cocktail which I swore involved tamarind and soda water… But, in keeping with the idea, the bartender refused to divulge the ingredients.
  • They have a superb selection of whiskies – The owners have a predilection for the Japanese ones, and there’s a bunch of hidden wonders in their shelf.

For those wishing to discover Speakeasy by BCB themselves, I highly suggest having dinner with some of their famous beer in the brewery (my favorite beer and food combo so far is Rolling Fog, their homage to the German Weißbier; and their gourmet take on Isaw, or chicken intestines). After that, one of their waitstaff will be happy to show guests the hidden door, behind which is a fantastic throwback to the Prohibition Era.

That said, I apologize for not being so detailed but hey… I don’t think Speakeasy by BCB will stay a secret for long. 😉

Cheers!
