Cheese, Charcuterie, and Drinks at Makati Diamond

written by Gail Sotelo August 3, 2018

When I got invited to the launch of the Cheese & Charcuterie Buffet in Alfred at Makati Diamond Residences, my first thought was: They must have made a mistake. After all, I’m a beverage blogger, and the emphasis on the food aspect of the buffet made it seem too perplexing for me to think of a good angle to make it fit.

That is, until I saw the gin and tonic buffet.

I thought to myself, hmmmmm… It would be a good idea to experiment with gin and tonic food pairings.

Classically, gin (and gin and tonic) pairs well with Asian food, shellfish, seafood, and pork. Which was no surprise that the gin and tonic cart (which featured brands such as Tanqueray, Bombay Sapphire, JJ Whitely Elderflower, Beefeater, and the local Sirena and Premium Gin) was a hit with the evening’s fare, which included U.S. Beef Belly, Pinakbet Paella with Crispy Bagnet, Longganisa, and the Prawn Kataifi with Salted Egg Dip.

The Cheese and Charcuterie Buffet (which also pairs with a selection of wines that went wonderfully with the oozing Raclette) is only PHP1,800 net per person. If one were to feel fancy (as everyone should), one can indulge in a bottle of Champagne Jean Vesselle (for an additional PHP1,800), which goes with the Caprese Skewers, selection of salty cheeses, Jamon Serrano, Chicken Lollipop in Honey Sriracha and Sweet Mustard, Spicy Jalapeño Poppers, Ham and Cheese Croquettes, Ementaler Tart, Pâté en Crouté, and Baba Ganoush.

One can also indulge in sweet endings through a pot of TWG Tea or Toby’s Estate Coffee and a Rhubarb Tart.

The promo runs from 27 July to 28 September 2018. For reservations, call +632-3170999 local 1114, or email dine@makatidiamond.com. See you there!
